Molotov Cocktail through Creative Commons

For those of you who don't already know the magazine, the title of this post may seem a little strange. It is not a homemade bomb, although the magazine (and its site) is already making quite the explosion. The "Molotov Cocktail" is a magazine about music, edited by Ana Garcia and with graphics by Mooz. The magazine, from the north eastern Brazilian state Pernambuco, launched in December its first edition (although it is the second), composed by captivating stories and interviews.

Sudan archive project ensure open access
Lokichoggio, Northern Kenya - across the border from Southern Sudan, a ground-breaking pilot project is being launched entitled The Sudan Open Archive Pilot Project.  This project aims to digitally capture and preserve documents that were left in Sudan by humanitarian organizations during the 1989 UNICEF - Operation Lifeline Sudan, which was a 3-month intiative that grew into a 15-year campaign.

The Australian rebalancing: innovation and good sense

The millions of Australians that record TV programs and make private copies of CDs can continue with this practice, but now with a clear conscience.

Based on the doctrine of fair use, the Australian government plans to legalize the recording of televised shows and the transfer of songs from CDs to MP3 players, neglecting to penalize the large part of the population that, until recently, could have been considered criminals. Representatives of the government have stated that the proposed legislation is almost ready, in which they intend to rebalance the rights of authors with the rights and interests of consumers and users.
