Cultura Livre
The Cultura Livre project seeks to establish a dialogue between countries of the South about the issues surrounding Culture, Media, and Intellectual Property. Its objective is to generate and put into practice instruments for the promotion of development, access to education, knowledge, and democratization of information.

The project was developed through a partnership between The Centre of Technology and Society at Fundação Getúlio Vargas and The Link Centre in South Africa.

Brazilian proposal on the Broadcasting Treaty

The recent proposal made by Brazil during the negotiations of a new treaty to protect the rights of broadcasting companies at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a good example of how diplomacy has had to take into consideration the simultaneous development of the same reality in various international fora. At the international level, the metaphor of a game seems to be more and more inevitable.

A Creative Commons world first in South Africa

sarahanddube ‘Copyright, copyleft and everything in between' is an animated, interactive flash-based curriculum for high school students in South Africa.

The curriculum, which describes the history of copyright, the impact of copyright on South African indigenous knowledge and culture, and new 'open content' licensing alternatives, is a world-first curriculum developed around Creative Commons.

Mingau Digital
The Mingau Digital is an educational website for children from 6 to 10 years old. Recently all of its content was licensed under a Creative Commons Atribution - NoCommercial - NoDerivs license and can be freely copied and distributed. Ronaldo Lemos, CTS/FGV coordinator and Director of Creative Commons Brazil gave a interview to the site explaining in very accessible language how copyright works as well as the importance of Creative Commons to the production of culture and knowledge.
 
Artists meet for Free Culture
The CTS promoted a meeting between the Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil, composer Caetano Veloso and the band Wilco, that was in Brazil for the TIM Festival. 

The meetings' main objective was to discuss the transformations in the music industry and in cultural productions brought with the advent of the Internet.  Matters such as the downloading of music and the framework for artists' remuneration were debated. 

The band Wilco participated a few months ago in a similar meeting promoted by Creative Commons in the United States.
